HTHK and Ocean Park launch
"Green Tech Journey: AI Conservation and
Renewable Energy" Programme

Providing real-life learning scenarios to enhance
students' AI literacy and future-ready mindsets

16 July 2026 - Hong Kong - Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Limited today announced a collaboration with Ocean Park to launch the "Green Tech Journey: AI Conservation and Renewable Energy Programme". By integrating advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology with ecological conservation and renewable energy education, the programme provides Hong Kong primary and secondary school students with immersive, hands-on AI learning experiences designed to enhance their understanding of sustainability.

Empower students with future-ready mindsets and support environmental conservation
As technologies such as AI and big data continue to evolve rapidly, the Education Bureau is spearheading digital education across primary and secondary schools to foster innovation in teaching and learning. Following the launch of the "AI for Empowering Learning and Teaching Funding Programme" late last year to actively support schools in leveraging AI technologies to enhance teaching effectiveness, the Bureau further unveiled the "Blueprint for Digital Education Development in Primary and Secondary Schools" this June to advocate for widespread AI education.

Raymond Ho, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited, said: "In recent years, our 3Education team has been leveraging 5G in combination with AI, robotics, AR, VR, the metaverse and Web 3.0 technologies to deliver innovative and diversified learning solutions for schools. These initiatives help enhance students' interest in learning and support schools in advancing smart campus development.

Through the collaboration with Ocean Park and other partners, we are harnessing our advanced 5G network and innovative AI applications to provide students with opportunities to learn and apply AI in real-world scenarios, while deepening their understanding of sustainability. This enables them to develop well-rounded digital literacy and a broader perspective for the future."

Ivan Wong, Chief Executive of Ocean Park Corporation, said: "Technology plays an even more important role in ecological conservation and education as we enter the AI era. The new programme co-created by Ocean Park, 3Education and other partners integrates AI and conservation into the primary and secondary school curricula. The collaboration helps students develop innovative thinking while bringing together the strengths of different sectors to foster environmental conservation. We hope this AI conservation programme will gradually expand to cover more species and topics, enabling more students to gain a deeper understanding of ecological conservation."

Beyond the classroom: explore conservation and renewable energy through AI
A joint initiative by Ocean Park, 3Education and leading solar energy solutions provider Widex Solar, the Programme aims to foster primary and secondary school students' interest in ecological conservation. It features AI-powered observation activities, interactive experiments and real case studies.

As one of the most biodiverse and valuable ecosystems on Earth, coral has been chosen as the topic of the Programme's first module. During the course, students use AI tools to observe and explore the characteristics and ecological value of Hong Kong's corals. Through interactive scientific experiments, they reconstruct coral structures and assess coral health. Real-life conservation case studies from Ocean Park are also incorporated to inspire students and foster a stronger conservation mindset.

The second part of the Programme focuses on how renewable energy aids in coral conservation. It explores practical ways to reduce carbon emissions through solar energy and utilises AI for the real-time monitoring of environmental data, seamlessly integrating technology into environmental conservation and STEAM education. Following the Programme, students can visit other ecological exhibits at Ocean Park on the same day to acquire further knowledge on environmental conservation.

The Programme aligns with the guidelines of the Bureau's "AI for Empowering Learning and Teaching Funding Programme" and is suitable for primary and secondary schools across Hong Kong. Each session can accommodate up to 120 students and 12 teachers. The entire experience lasts for approximately 1.5 hours, with the fee inclusive of Ocean Park admission for the day.

To enable more students to benefit from this initiative, the 3Education team provides professional consultancy support to assist schools in applying for the funding programme. For details or enrolment, please call or WhatsApp 6341 0510, or email [email protected].
