Hong Kong, 18 March 2020 - 3 Hong Kong, the mobile arm of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (HTHKH; stock code: 215), and The Hong Kong Jockey Club (the Club) today announced donation of telecoms service packs to help needy students embrace online learning with the assistance of the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups and The Boys' and Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong during the virus outbreak.
Free Zoom Classrooms accounts and mobile data for needy students
The novel coronavirus outbreak is affecting the life of all people in Hong Kong. Most schools have adopted online teaching so students can continue to learn during school closures. 3 Hong Kong has therefore worked with the Club to provide schools and needy students with free tailored telecoms service packs to help equip them with high-speed mobile data services and an online learning app including below:
- Free accounts of "Zoom classrooms - modern learning for the modern student", enabling up to 1,000 local primary and secondary schools to obtain the licences for up to four months
- 4.5G mobile data services with a monthly data entitlement of 30GB for four months
HTHKH Executive Director and CEO Kenny Koo said: "We are determined to render all possible support to the needy to help our community combat the coronavirus outbreak. Our collaboration with the Club and two non-governmental organisations in the telecoms field enables us to bring in enhanced initiatives to support students with our advanced mobile network and the provision of Zoom, a popular international video conferencing app, so that learning will not stop with school closings. It is our hope to leverage technologies to help needy students learn online with support for mobile data services and applications during the anti-epidemic period."
