Hong Kong, 19 September 2018 - 3 Hong Kong, the mobile communications division of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (HTHKH, stock code: 215), today announced completion of a network to serve the local section of the Guangzhou- Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL). This means the network is ready to provide high-speed and stable mobile communications the instant the new railway service commences.

In a move to celebrate installation of this cross-border infrastructure - to be followed by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) - 3 Hong Kong is offering 1GB of free data to be used throughout mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau by customers who download the My3 app. This will enable them to stay connected with family and friends while traveling around the three territories.

Full network coverage and NB-IoT readiness provided for XRL's Hong Kong section
The XRL goes into service on 23 September to connect Hong Kong West Kowloon Station with six stations in Guangzhou - and passengers will be able to enjoy a high-quality mobile communications experience while traveling, thanks to base stations deployed by 3 Hong Kong at West Kowloon terminus and along the rail link. 3 Hong Kong provides comprehensive 2G, 3G and 4.5G network coverage on existing spectrum bands, as well as NB-IoT (Narrow Band Internet of Things, NB-IoT) spectrum. Customers will benefit from smooth and stable voice and data services in the hall, on platforms and throughout immigration and departure halls at the terminus and on trains throughout the Hong Kong section.

3 Hong Kong works closely with operators in mainland China to provide quality data connectivity for customers journeying between Hong Kong and the mainland.

HTHKH Executive Director and CEO Kenny Koo said: "Telecoms operators are expected to cope with huge demand following commencement of the high-speed rail service. Working closely with the MTR, we conducted network trials in June to test up-and-download speeds, as well as coverage at locations throughout the terminus."

He added: "Final testing was completed before commission of the XRL in order to ensure fast, stable and smooth communications. 3 Hong Kong's network throughout the XRL is also ready to support NB-IoT applications both sides of the border."

In order to mark the opening of the XRL - followed by the HZMB - 3 Hong Kong is offering new and existing customers 1GB of free data entitlement (valid for a month) when downloading the My3 App and logging in between this 21 September and 20 October. The offer enables customers to sample the convenience of using data entitlement throughout three geographies without the hassle of changing SIM. This means they can continue using social media and instant messaging - regardless of whether in Hong Kong, mainland China or Macau.

Special offers open to XRL passengers and data plans launched for use in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau
XRL passengers arriving in Hong Kong will receive a text message inviting them to roam on 3 Hong Kong's high-quality network - and those who visit a 3Shop will be offered discount if purchasing selected items.

In addition, 3 Hong Kong has launched a series of innovative data plans for use in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. These have been designed to meet a diversity of customer needs arising from the two cross-border transit facilities.

Mainland China Number Service is also available, enabling users to receive calls and SMS sent to a mainland China number.
