IPX peering arrangement between
China Telecom Global and HGC will result in
greater reach for mobile network operators
Opening up the potential to reach more than 200m mobile users

Hong Kong, 10 May 2016 - China Telecom Global Limited (CTG) and Hutchison Global Communications Limited (HGC), the fixed-line division of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (stock code: 215), have announced a peering agreement in respect of the China Telecom Global IPX (CTG IPX) and HGC Hutch-IPX networks.

Opening up the potential to reach more than 200m mobile users
Unveiled at International Telecoms Week (ITW) in Chicago on 9 May 2016, the collaboration will enable HGC's service provider and mobile network operator (MNO) customers to expand their mainland China coverage - opening up the potential to reach over 200 million mobile users. By the same token, CTG's global coverage will be extended via extensive Hutch-IPX reach and throughout the CK Hutchison's mobile affiliates.

The move will enable MNOs and carriers served by both parties to use the two IPX platforms to deliver traffic generated by 4G data roaming, mobile signalling and Voice-over-IP (VoIP). More traffic will come from advanced IP services such as Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE), HD video calling, media content delivery and OTT services with an end-to-end quality of service. End customers can therefore enjoy seamless roaming and a top-notch voice and mobile data experience.

Andrew Kwok, President of International and Carrier Business at Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Limited, said: "This collaboration with CTG enables HGC's MNO and service provider customers to deliver traffic via our global network and further expands our existing coverage in mainland China with a larger mobile subscriber base in the country. Pursuing a group-to-group peering strategy by establishing IPX peering connections with partners and their communities of mobile networks has proved effective in expanding mutual coverage and enabling enhancement of services not limited to traditional IPX service."

Ou Yan, Executive Vice President of CTG, said: "We put huge resources on the development of IPX which we believe is a key platform for mobile wholesale business in the near future. Focusing on building more IPX connections, we aim at providing the mobile users with high quality of seamless mobile roaming services. IPX peering interconnection with HGC whose on-net network including not only Hong Kong but also various European countries, could help us further extend our IPX service area. We are confident that our close to 200 million mobile subscribers could also add more value to Hutch-IPX network."

China Telecom Global IPX platform offers a customised integrated solution
CTG IPX is a secure next-generation private IP network that carries multiple IP services and interconnections as a wholesale hub with end-to-end Quality-of-Service (QoS) measures designed to meet demands into the future. Multiple services including voice, 2G/3G/4G roaming and signaling are provided via one port. CTG IPX is built on China Telecom's leading MPLS network, which covers 312 cities in mainland China plus nearly 130 countries further afield.

Hutch-IPX platform offers comprehensive one-stop IPX solutions
IPX enables multiple operators to exchange IP traffic in a secure and quality-centric manner without having to traverse the Internet. The Hutch-IPX platform facilitates provision of comprehensive IP interconnect services such as 2G, 3G and 4G data roaming, along with mobile signalling, Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and high-definition voice and video traffic, as well as BlackBerry data traffic. Based on the technology-neutral Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) system, Hutch-IPX provides a highly-secure virtual private network complete with end-to-end quality-of-service assurance and stringent service level agreements that cover jitter, network backbone latency and availability.
