heralds new 4G LTE mobile era
Macau, 9 March 2015 - Hutchison Telephone (Macau) Company Limited (3Macau), the Macau mobile telecommunications division of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (stock code: 215), was today equipped with a 4G Long-Term-Evolution (LTE) mobile telecommunications networks and services licence. The award was made by the Macau Direcção dos Serviços de Regulação de Telecomunicações (DSRT). As a result, customers will benefit from abundant spectrum resources and an unprecedented ultra-fast 4G mobile communications experience.
Ho Wai Ming, Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Telecom Macau, said: "We thank the Macau DSRT for granting us this 4G LTE mobile telecoms networks and services licence. Smart device popularity has given rise to soaring demand for high-speed data service. The licence award enables us to boost data transmission speeds and usher in the new 4G LTE telecoms era. Moving forward, 3Macau will invest more than MOP300 million to develop a 4G LTE network. 3Macau's solid foundation facilities, plus 3 Hong Kong's rich experience in 4G network development and outstanding performance, enable us to launch 4G LTE service during the fourth quarter of this year."
