throughout the international telecoms industry
21 May 2014, Hong Kong - Hutchison Global Communications Limited (HGC), the fixed-line division of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (stock code: 215), has won two awards in the Business Service Innovation category of the 2014 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards.
Organised by Global Telecoms Business magazine, the awards scheme recognises innovation and excellence throughout the international telecoms industry. This year, entrants competed in five categories - fixed network infrastructure innovation, wireless network infrastructure innovation, wholesale service innovation, business service innovation and consumer service innovation.
HGC's two winning projects in the Business Service Innovation category were:
- ibizCloud service with on-demand public and private connectivity - HGC partners with Power-All Networks
- Expanding customer subscriber bases via the Application and Content Provider (ACP) Solution - HGC partners with HGC GlobalCentre, one of the solution vendors
ibizCloud provides cloud computing services that include Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and Bandwidth-as-a-Service (BaaS) plus value-added cloud services such as Dedicated Bandwidth-as-a-Service (DBaaS) and On-demand Virtual Leased Line (ODVLL). HGC was among the world's first telecoms operators to offer ODVLL, its cloud-computing services extend secure connectivity into customer premises.
The ACP Solution comprises a full set of services including data centre facilities, hosting and colocation, seamless integration of local and international networks, IP transit, equipment leasing and management, as well as local remote hands outsourcing. This solution facilitates content exchange, enhances application performance and improves the user experience in a cost-effective manner. Ultimately, the ACP Solution helps over-the-top (OTT) players extend their business coverage around the world.
Andrew Kwok, HGC President of International and Carrier Business, said: "We are delighted that our two projects have won recognition for excellence in business service innovation. It is evident that our continued efforts to offer new services - in the context of our thorough understanding of the international telecoms market - has been key to winning these accolades. Looking ahead, we will continue to deliver new services with unique features to keep up to speed with the latest market trends and evolving business needs of our customers."
The brace of accolades was presented to HGC at the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards Ceremony - the eighth such annual ceremony to be staged by Global Telecoms Business magazine - in London on May 14.
