HGC scoops Best APAC Carrier Ethernet Service Provider Innovator title in
the Carrier Ethernet APAC Awards 2012

Accolade sets HGC apart from other carriers by recognising its innovative application of
Ethernet technology to differing business needs in Asia Pacific

Hong Kong, 20 December 2012 - Hutchison Global Communications Limited (HGC or the Company), the fixed-line operating division of Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (stock code: 215), has won the Best APAC Carrier Service Provider Innovator title in the Carrier Ethernet APAC Awards 2012. This accolade differentiates HGC in the market by recognising its innovative application of Ethernet technology to a variety of business requirements in the Asia Pacific region.

Adjudicators of the awards scheme said: "HGC was the top innovator among service providers based on a combination of service introduction to emerging markets, robust interconnection with mainland China and a high percentage of fibre-served buildings, as well as application breadth and technology adoption. HGC has proved the new capabilities of services that Ethernet can offer the market."

HGC has been active in developing and deploying innovative services based on Ethernet technology to serve customers in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia. Such offerings include Internet Protocol Exchange Service (IPX), which interconnects fixed and mobile network operators, application service providers and content providers. The result is that this community of industry players is now able to provide multiple services to handle aspects such as data roaming, BlackBerry (RIM) service, voice and video traffic, LTE roaming and mobile signaling.

Also part of the HGC portfolio is Blue City, a neutral interconnect platform offering a solution that bundles co-location, cross-connection, demuxing, International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) and global Ethernet connectivity. These help telecoms carriers to satisfy a growing appetite for virtual Meet-me Room service, along with interconnection with the rest of the world, in a cost-effective way.

In addition, HGC's global network outreach forms a powerful nexus for AMS-IX Hong Kong, an Ethernet exchange established in conjunction with Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMSIX). This collaborative effort was unveiled in 2012 to provide carrier-grade private and public peering services via HGC's Ethernet network - all to the benefit of Internet Service Providers, Internet Content Providers and telecoms operators throughout Asia Pacific.
