Continues to drive mobile data growth through constant improvement of its network
Upgrades mobile data speed to 21Mbps in Q3 2010
With the increasing popularity of Smartphone handsets in the market and Mobile Internet and Multimedia Applications in the Macau community, local mobile data usage is growing rapidly. To meet the rising demand for these data services, 3 Macau has invested over MOP 100 million on network optimisation and expansion, aimed at strengthening its 2G and 3G network coverage. Beginning the third quarter this year, 3 Macau will upgrade its network for high-speed mobile data transfer of up to 21Mbps, so as to move it towards a new era of high speed data communication and serve its users with a world-class network quality.
Extensive outdoor coverage expansion with focus on Northern District and Taipa
3 Macau Engineering & Network Operations Director Mr. Albert Siu said that to strengthen the outdoor coverage and reception quality at Northern District and Taipa, as well as to reduce signal interference around the area, 3 Macau will continue to build new mobile cell sites this year.
Substantial increment in indoor network facilities all over Macau to raise overall quality of 2G and 3G networks
On indoor reception, 3 Macau new network facilities including indoor repeaters and antenna, have been set up by 3 Macau in government and commercial buildings, hospitals, shops, restaurants and public playgrounds, for the provision of uninterrupted service to the general public.
Invest over MOP 100 Millions on 2G and 3G network expansion for the migration to a new era of 21Mbps high-speed data transmission
Mr. Albert Siu expressed that 3 Macau has been striving for continuous network improvement. This includes the introduction of an advanced real-time network monitoring and problem tracking system for quick network recovery, so as to improve customer satisfaction. Over MOP 100 million has been invested on the network for the addition of mobile network switches, while the ever-growing mobile broadband data speeds of 3 Macau will be upgraded to 21Mbps by the third quarter this year. Through continuous investment and development, 3 Macau has maintained the sustainability of its 2G and 3G networks through endless improvement on coverage and quality. Mastering the latest development of mobile communications, 3 Macau is able to fulfill the customer's increasing demand for voice, mobile broadband and multimedia services.
