as HTHKH's "Greening the Office" project
ends a year of go-green initiatives
Hong Kong, 12 December 2018 - The lobby at Hong Kong's Hutchison Telecom Tower, headquarters for Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (HTHKH; stock code: 215), was taken over by flower power on 6 December, when staff received free potted plants after voting for their favourite terrarium displays.
Some 400 potted plants in 18 categories, including mini-Christmas trees, poinsettia, lavender, daisies, kalanchoes, primroses and mini-roses, were handed to employees as part of HTHKH's "Greening the Office" project, which comprised three elements:
- A lunchtime workshop at which staff learned to make their own terrariums -glass containers featuring soil and plants -and took part in the My Favourite Terrarium" competition.
- An exhibition of terrariums made by staff in the Hutchison Telecom Tower lobby, where HTHKH staff members were encouraged to vote for their favourite displays.
- After casting a vote, each employee was able to choose a potted plant with which to green his/her office or home.
Response to the "Greening the Office" terrarium workshop and mini-plant giveaway project was overwhelming. In fact, the event was oversubscribed by a factor of two, and workshop places were filled in less than an hour after enrollment began. Close to half the HTHKH workforce voted to decide the "My Favourite Terrarium" winner, who walked away with a cash prize and one day's paid annual leave. In addition, those who voted automatically entered a lucky draw to compete for a cash prize and one day's paid annual leave.
HTHKH launched a 2018 programme of go-green initiatives with a springtime tree-planting event, while the "Greening the Office" project provided a fitting climax to a year's worth of activities designed to leave employees with "green fingers".
