uniting staff to serve the community
Hong Kong, 5 Nov 2015 - Hutchison Telecommunications Hong Kong Holdings Limited (HTHKH or the Group; stock code: 215) ran a donation-matching programme from 26 to 30 October by uniting staff to serve needy sections of the community. More than HK$320,000 was raised to benefit seven registered charitable organisations.
Donation-matching programme benefits the underprivileged
Each donation was matched dollar-for-dollar by the Group, demonstrating a commitment to encouraging staff to contribute to the benefit of the underprivileged.
More than HK$320,000 was raised by the donation-matching programme during the period and will be shared evenly among seven charitable organisations. They are the Eco Association, Fu Hui Education Foundation, Hong Kong Alzheimer's Disease Association, Hong Kong Rehabilitation Power, Mission of Love, The Intellectually Disabled Education and Advocacy League and Youth Outreach. These serve various sections of society by specialising in areas such as education, alleviation of poverty, medical and rehabilitation activities and environmental protection. Benefit will be felt by needy folk of all ages, able-bodied and otherwise, from all walks of life in Hong Kong and mainland China.
Applying our "Making Better" philosophy to serving the community
The Group's "Making Better" philosophy is being applied to its way of contribution to the community in which it does business. As well as making cash and in-kind donations - and encouraging staff to participate - the Group launched the "Elderly Time Slot" concept throughout all 3Shop outlets at the beginning of the year. This made the benefits of digital technology available to all senior citizens in Hong Kong by providing them with free 15-minute basic smartphone tutorials, so they can make the most of functionality offered by their handsets. The Group will continue to contribute to the community at every appropriate opportunity.
